An agent’s privacy information explains what it collects, what may be shared with its creator and whether future messages are being saved. These details depend on the agent’s settings. Do not assume messages sent to a creator’s agent are hidden from that creator.

Find the information for the agent you use

Open Account in the agent’s website widget, then select Data & Privacy when available. This belongs to the visitor experience, separate from the creator’s workspace settings. If you are already viewing Data & Privacy, check the collection and creator-sharing information. Conversation Retention shows the displayed history state. Account may also offer Help & Support, About This Agent and Terms & Privacy where configured. Use these to identify the responsible creator and find the applicable policies or help contact. Read this information before sending personal material. For example, you may be able to ask a policy question without supplying a customer’s name, account number or full document. Send the information needed for the task.

History, uploaded files and data requests are different

Change future message saving

A connected guest can change Conversation history as well as a signed-in visitor. Wait for the chat session to connect before using the control.
  1. Return to Account.
  2. Find Conversation history.
  3. Wait for the control to become available.
  4. Turn it off to stop future messages being saved to history, or on to save chats for later.
  5. Wait for the update to finish.
  6. Reopen Data & Privacy.
  7. Check Conversation Retention for the updated state.
If the privacy screen tells you to use Settings, the visitor menu containing this control is Account. For connection or account-state help, follow Visitor accounts and saved history.

Read upload notices separately

An upload can have its own Privacy Notice. It explains processing and whether a copy is shared with the creator. Read it before selecting Upload; choose Cancel if you do not want to proceed. Where available, Account → Your uploaded files lets you delete a particular upload. Its confirmation explains that the creator-shared copy is removed too. Follow Files visitors send you, including the File deleted completion check. An error or pending request does not confirm deletion.

Ask for account or data help

Use the available help options to contact the responsible team or creator. Explain which agent, account and type of data your request concerns. Keep passwords and verification codes out of the message. Follow the response and confirmation from the team handling the request. Chat guidance alone does not confirm that a separate data-access or deletion request has been completed. See Delete your account or your data for related guidance. If privacy details are unavailable or do not answer your question, use the linked policies and help contact before sharing material you are uncertain about.
