# Change a member role

> Understand why you cannot change another person's space role: a space currently contains only its owner, with member workflows unavailable.

You cannot currently change another person's role in an Alysium space. A space contains only its owner, and workflows for adding members or assigning member roles are unavailable.

Your personal space belongs to your account. The Team menu does not provide a supported way to change your own owner role or transfer personal-space ownership. There is no member-role change to save or confirm in the current experience.

## Match the access need to the right task

If another person needs to **chat with an agent**, use [Share your agent with a link and QR code](https://docs.alysium.ai/share-and-deploy/share-your-agent-with-a-link-and-qr-code.md). A visitor link gives access to that agent's chat under its sharing settings. It does not make the recipient an editor or a member of your space.

If the person needs to **edit or manage your space**, that member workflow is not currently available. [Invite people to your space](https://docs.alysium.ai/spaces/invite-people-to-your-space.md) explains the invitation limit. Changing a role is not a workaround for adding someone.

If **you cannot edit an agent you acquired**, check its offer. Managed marketplace copies can be for chatting without builder editing; being the space owner does not make every acquired agent editable. ## Ask about a specific access problem

Use [Get help from a person](https://docs.alysium.ai/help/get-help-from-a-person.md) if you need account-specific help or have an ownership question. Explain the space, the work you want to do and the message you see. A support request does not itself transfer ownership or add another person.
