# Upgrade to Pro

> Start Pro for the Alysium space you own, review checkout and choose deliberately whether to allow paid usage beyond the included credits.

Start Pro for the Alysium space you own, with a deliberate choice about paid usage beyond the included credits. Have the payment method you intend to use ready.

A space holds your agents, files and usage allowance. Pro is the space's plan; it does not purchase subscriptions to individual creators' agents. [Free and Pro plans compared](https://docs.alysium.ai/plans-and-billing/free-and-pro-plans-compared.md) explains the included allowances and plan differences.

## Check the space and existing plan

The [Billing link](https://app.alysium.ai/spaces?settings=billing) opens the current space's settings. Already in **Billing & Subscription** for the intended space? Start at step 2.

1. Open [Billing](https://app.alysium.ai/spaces?settings=billing).
2. Check the space name.
3. Wait for the subscription details to finish loading.
4. Check the current plan and status.

If Billing offers **Manage Subscription & Billing**, manage that existing plan through [Update your payment method or see invoices](https://docs.alysium.ai/plans-and-billing/update-your-payment-method-or-see-invoices.md). **Subscription Details Unavailable** means the details could not be confirmed; retry Billing or use **Open Billing Portal** before starting another purchase.

If a canceled plan offers **Resubscribe Now** and you intend to restart it, select that button. Continue with [Review checkout and check the plan](#review-checkout-and-check-the-plan). The automatic-overages switch described below is only shown for new subscriptions; check the resulting saved on-demand setting after resubscribing.

## Choose overages for a new subscription

The new-subscription screen includes **Enable automatic overages**. Overages are paid AI usage after the included credits have been spent. Turn this off if you want usage to stop at the included allowance. Leaving it on permits additional charges; it does not add free credits.

For example, someone trying Pro without additional usage charges can turn this switch off before checkout. After subscribing, [Turn on overages and set a cap](https://docs.alysium.ai/plans-and-billing/turn-on-overages-and-set-a-cap.md) explains the separate **Fixed**, **Unlimited** and **Disabled** controls.

1. Set **Enable automatic overages** to your intended choice.
2. Select the subscription button labeled **Subscribe Now** with the displayed monthly price.
3. Continue with [Review checkout and check the plan](#review-checkout-and-check-the-plan).

## Review checkout and check the plan

1. Check the plan name, recurring price, billing interval and payment terms in checkout.
2. Enter the requested payment information.
3. Confirm the purchase only if the charge and terms match your intention.
4. Follow any payment verification checkout requests.
5. Check checkout's result.
6. Return to Alysium.
7. Reopen [Billing](https://app.alysium.ai/spaces?settings=billing).
8. Check the resulting plan and subscription status.
9. Check the saved **On-Demand Usage** setting.

Use the actual checkout price before paying. Opening checkout or entering a card does not confirm an active subscription. Once Billing confirms Pro is active, [check Consumption](https://docs.alysium.ai/plans-and-billing/check-your-usage.md) for the current allowance and recorded usage.

## If the upgrade does not finish

If checkout reports a payment error, follow that error and check Billing before trying another purchase. [Fix a failed payment](https://docs.alysium.ai/plans-and-billing/fix-a-failed-payment.md) explains how to inspect an existing subscription's payment issue.

If the plan still appears unchanged after payment confirmation, keep that confirmation. Contact [billing@alysium.ai](mailto:billing@alysium.ai) with the space name, displayed status and confirmation reference. Do not assume another checkout will complete the first one.
