# Change website scan settings

> Change which pages an existing Library website collects and when it refreshes, then check whether the saved scan settings fit your source.

Change which pages an existing Library website collects and when it refreshes. Use this when a scan is too broad, misses useful linked pages or needs a different schedule.

These settings change collection. They do not edit the original site or rewrite the agent's instructions. Use a website in a space you own for this Library settings task.

## Open Website settings

1. Open [Library](https://app.alysium.ai/library).
2. Open the intended website entry.
3. Open the three-dot menu beside its heading.
4. Select **Website settings**.
5. Confirm the website name and address.

If the dialog is already open, continue with [Choose the change](#choose-the-change).

This guide covers an existing Library source. For first setup directly in an agent, use [Add a website to your agent's knowledge](https://docs.alysium.ai/knowledge-and-library/add-a-website-to-your-agents-knowledge.md).

## Choose the change

The website address is read-only in this dialog. To use a different starting address, add a new website.

The available crawl fields may vary with the offered website source. Follow the displayed labels and bounds.

| Your goal | Setting to review |
| - | - |
| Reach useful pages farther from the starting page | Link depth |
| Allow more pages in the result | Maximum pages |
| Exclude an unrelated section | Pages to skip |
| Request updates on a different schedule | Re-scan frequency |

For a fictional shop FAQ collecting unrelated blog pages, add the site's actual blog section to **Pages to skip**. For example:

1. Enter **/blog** in **Pages to skip**.
2. Press Enter or Space.
3. Check that it appears as a visible exclusion.

Use its remove button to undo the entry. Use paths from your own site, rather than a fabricated tutorial domain.

If information is stale, consider a different schedule or a scan now. Widening the scope does not by itself request fresher information.

## Save the settings

Choose one of these actions:

| Action | Result requested |
| - | - |
| **Save** | Keep the settings without an immediate scan. |
| **Save & scan now** | Keep the settings and request fresh collection now. |

1. Change the relevant crawl or schedule fields.
2. Select the action that matches your goal.
3. Read the result.

These buttons are alternatives. You do not need to select both.

## Check settings and scan outcomes separately

After a rescan, return to the website's page list and inspect the results and statuses before relying on changed information.

A schedule requests future updates; it does not promise that each website edit is immediately known. Saving settings also does not prove a requested scan started.

If the settings saved but the scan could not start, read that separate result. Correct the cause, then select **Scan again** in the website view. You do not need to assume the settings were lost.

For the intended agent to use the Library material, check its attachment using [Use Library files in an agent](https://docs.alysium.ai/knowledge-and-library/use-library-files-in-an-agent.md).

## If you cannot make the change

* **A field is refused:** read its validation message and use the displayed bounds.
* **A permission message appears:** confirm you are editing the intended website in your own space. Use [Get help from a person](https://docs.alysium.ai/help/get-help-from-a-person.md) if the restriction is unexpected.
* **The address needs to change:** add a new source; do not try to force a value into the read-only field.
