# Review a skill before adding it

> Read a skill's description and contents before adding its guidance, whether it is a catalog skill, an imported bundle or already attached.

Read a skill's description and contents before deciding whether its guidance fits your agent. Use this process for a new catalog skill, an imported bundle or a skill already attached to an agent.

**Already reading the skill's details?** Continue with [Read its guidance](#read-its-guidance).

## Open the skill details

1. Open [Home](https://app.alysium.ai/spaces).
2. Select the intended agent.
3. Open **Build**.
4. Open **Settings**.
5. Find **Skills**.
6. Select **Browse skill library** if the skill is not already in the attached list.
7. Select the skill's name in the attached list or picker.
8. Continue with [Read its guidance](#read-its-guidance).

Home opens your active space, where you choose the agent. If it asks you to sign in, sign in. Open Home again if needed.

You can review an available public skill before your space acquires it. The details viewer does not grant access to another creator's private material.

## Read its guidance

1. Check **Added by**.
2. Check **Version**.
3. Read the description and displayed availability terms.
4. Open the available content files.
5. Compare their instructions with your agent's job.

A short catalog title is not enough to decide whether the skill fits. For a fictional customer-help assistant, look for sensible clarifying questions, use of supplied facts and a useful answer structure. Guidance that always calls for a long sales pitch may conflict with a concise FAQ role.

Check how the skill works with the agent's other instructions and skills. Competing guidance can make the agent's job less clear.

## Decide whether to trust it

**Trust this skill** is a deliberate setting for your space, rather than a preference for one conversation.

| State | How the guidance is treated |
| - | - |
| **Untrusted** | The default. The skill is applied cautiously within the agent's rules. |
| **Trusted** | The skill's guidance is treated as authoritative. |

Leave it untrusted while deciding whether you accept all its guidance. Trust does not give a skill unavailable tools or make stored scripts execute.

## Choose what to do with it

| Action | Result |
| - | - |
| **Add to my space** | Acquires an available free skill your space does not hold. Attachment is a separate action. |
| **Attach to agent** | Uses a skill already held by your space in this agent. |
| **Disable on this agent** | Stops using the skill while keeping its attachment. |
| **Enable on this agent** | Turns an attached skill back on. |
| **Remove from agent** | Removes this agent's attachment while leaving the skill in your space's library. |
| **Purchase soon** | Does not complete a paid purchase; checkout is unavailable. |

To acquire and attach a skill, continue with [Add skills to your agent](https://docs.alysium.ai/build-your-agent/add-skills-to-your-agent.md). These actions save without a separate Design **Save Changes** step. Check the agent's Skills list after an attachment change.

To compare the agent with and without one skill, select **Disable on this agent** before testing it again. You do not need to retire the whole skill for that comparison.

## If a skill is unavailable or the result is unexpected

A skill you cannot view may be private or no longer offered. A failed load does not establish access to its contents.

If the guidance makes the agent worse, disable it and review the actual instructions before changing trust. If **Update** or retirement controls are missing, check whether your space authored the skill. Acquiring someone else's skill does not let you replace their original. Use [Update or retire a skill you created](https://docs.alysium.ai/build-your-agent/update-or-retire-a-skill-you-created.md) for authored versions.
