# What is Alysium

> Learn what Alysium is, how agents use instructions and knowledge, and how people can chat with the AI assistants you create in the app.

Alysium is an app for creating AI assistants called agents, giving them knowledge and letting people chat with them.

You give an agent a job and instructions for how to behave. You can attach reference material called knowledge. An AI model uses that setup to produce replies. Alysium brings these parts together with a chat preview, visitor appearance and sharing controls.

## What goes into an agent

The parts serve different purposes:

| Part | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Agent Instructions** | Describe the job, tone and behavior you want. |
| **Knowledge** | Supplies reference facts from material you attach. |
| **AI model** | Produces the replies. |
| Visitor chat | Gives people a place to talk with the agent. |

Imagine a fictional workshop with a short FAQ. Its agent could explain class preparation from that FAQ and ask visitors which class they mean. The creator writes instructions about tone and missing information, then attaches the actual FAQ. If the document says nothing about refunds, the agent should say the information is missing. The creator checks questions against the supplied facts before sharing.

Describing the workshop during agent creation does not supply its business facts or connect the agent to outside systems. You add the reference material and check what the agent can do.

## Where you build and organize it

[Home](https://app.alysium.ai/spaces) holds your space's agents. Open an agent to find **Build** for instructions and knowledge, **Design** for the visitor chat appearance and **Deploy** for sharing.

A space is the home for your agents, files and plan usage. [Library](https://app.alysium.ai/library) stores reusable material. See [Where things are in Alysium](https://docs.alysium.ai/help/where-things-are-in-alysium.md) for the full navigation map.

## How people use an agent

You can chat with available agents in the app, share an eligible agent through a standalone link, or install its chat widget on a website. A widget is the chat window visitors open on that site.

Publication and access settings determine availability. Creating a draft does not automatically make it public. AgentHub is a separate place to discover agents offered by creators; an offer has its own access and purchase requirements.

## Choose a first step

To explore, open [AgentHub](https://app.alysium.ai/agenthub) and read an agent's offer before choosing its access option. To build, follow [How to get started](https://docs.alysium.ai/about-alysium/how-to-get-started.md) for a complete practice project.

[What you can build with Alysium](https://docs.alysium.ai/about-alysium/what-you-can-build-with-alysium.md) offers project ideas. [What Alysium cannot do yet](https://docs.alysium.ai/help/what-alysium-cannot-do-yet.md) explains the limits to consider when choosing a job for your agent.
